  • 2021 and 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 and 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan ace Cars.com’s Car Seat Fit Report Card
  • The 2021 and 2022 ID.4 are two of the three EVs featured on the honor roll list
  • All three Volkswagen vehicles earned top grades in each category

Herndon, VA — Volkswagen of America, Inc. is honored to announce that Cars.com gave top marks to the 2021 and 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 and the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan in its Car Seat Fit Report Card.

The 2022 Car Seat Fit Report Card was determined by car seat installations throughout the year in 52 different vehicles. Over the past 12 years, more than 650 vehicles have been evaluated. Certified safety technicians installed an infant car seat, a convertible car seat and a booster seat into every vehicle tested.

“Editor-in-Chief Jenni Newman and I are both certified child passenger safety technicians as well as moms of kids who have gone through every car-seat stage,” said Jennifer Geiger, News Editor at Cars.com. “From large three-row SUVs and minivans to tiny crossovers and sedans, we’ve installed child-safety seats into each one and evaluated how well the vehicles accommodate a variety of them.”

During the car seat installation, technicians closely examine the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system. The car seats were installed in the second row of the vehicles and in three-row vehicles, the forward-facing car seats were installed in the third row to test ease of accessibility.

“Volkswagen is proud to have models acknowledged as three of the best in this year’s Car Seat Fit Report class,” said Thomas Zorn, Vice President of Vehicle Safety, Volkswagen Group of America. “This recognition is a testament to the care taken in the research and development of our vehicles regarding the areas of safety and functionality.”

Receiving top marks, the ID.4 was recognized for the accessibility of the anchors and for the spaciousness of the vehicle. The Tiguan, being no stranger to the Cars.com Car Seat Check honor roll, once again receives the highest possible grades in each category.

The 2022 ID.4 has a starting MSRP of $41,230. The entry-level rear-wheel drive Pro model is well equipped, with features typically found on higher trims and has an EPA estimated range of 275 miles. The ID.4 is also available with all-wheel drive and offers an available Gradient Package which includes larger wheels and further design differentiators.

With a starting MSRP of $26,490, the Tiguan was refreshed for model year 2022, and is offered in four trims: S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line. Exterior styling has been updated with an all-new front end with an available illuminated light line in the grille, as well as new colors and wheels.
